My target audience is 11 – 16 year old boys; I have chosen to target this audience as, as the decoder of the magazine, I can relate to this audience as I once was an 11 – 16 year old boy. I also decided to target boys as they have a lot of things that they are interested in and stereotypically all boys enjoy music and sport, sport was something that I was able to use as an article. This point is backed up by the results of questionnaire as the 3 people I questioned; all 3 of them said that their hobbies were sport, 2 being football, 1 being basketball.
It is obviously very important for the encoder to take into account every bit of information about an imaginary entity. Everything the encoder does will be been seen and noticed by the majority of people, the encoder has to think about the age of the target audience, their social class and whole magazine itself.
